Mirror Mirror

Brace yourself. Transparency is about to unfold and TRUTH is coming out.

P.s. This ain’t just for us gals, it can apply to you guys too!

All right y'all, it's time to get down to it. Vanity is the subject here. It’s a real thing, and so is insecurity, and A LOT of us struggle with it. The way we feel about ourselves simply becomes obsessive. It was not until this past year that I started praying to God to reveal any vain OR insecure part of me and help me rid it so that I can focus on what I truly look like… on what I look like on the inside, not the out.

As I dive deeper into this subject, believe me when I say, I am preaching to myself, not just my audience!

Alright, so how much time do you spend in the mirror working on your outer appearance versus time you spend working on your inner (your heart) (People can see your heart too, ya know.) For the majority of us, the outer typically outweighs the inner by a lot.

Whether you are too insecure about the way you look, too confident or too obsessed, all can be translated into a form of vanity; in fact, John Calvin, an influential French theologian, pastor and reformer during the Protestant Reformation, once said “The human heart has so many crannies where vanity hides, so many holes where falsehood lurks, is so decked out with deceiving hypocrisy, that it often dupes itself.”

I find the validity of Mr. Calvin’s words to be backed by various verses in the Bible. Jesus tells us in God’s Word that vanity is sin. Proverbs 21:4 reads “Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.” I think we can all admit that sin, no matter what sin it is, comes fairly natural to each and every one of us, so why not talk about how we can overcome them? ..But seriously, who in the world wants to admit that their mirror is their best friend?! That’s a hard one! #transparencyunfolding

On this note, let’s remember that our outer appearance is a worldly concern and can quickly come into association with sin, which separates us from God and keeps us from reaching our potential as His child and His disciple. (Isaiah 59:2 "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God..") 1 John 2:16 reads “the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life - is not from the Father but is from the world."

Alright, so remember how I said I faced my reality and confronted God about it? Well, I did this because I realized it was one of the things in my life that needed to be addressed before moving on in my desire to serve Him. My ultimate purpose in life was truly starting to set in and I simply knew that for me to fulfill my purpose, I needed for my heart to truly be as pure as possible so it can reflect His light without others doubting my authenticity. I knew I needed things that actually matter in life to matter way more to me than my physical appearance. I’ve found Psalm 119:37 to be a very relative verse and prayer for this very matter - “Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.”

With all this said, I can attest that the most amazing feeling you will ever have about yourself is knowing yourself in Jesus, who you truly are in Him...looking in the mirror and being able to see a reflection of a people-loving, God-fearing heart. Even if you are still trying to “live it out” and learn His ways, there is no better feeling than knowing that God is your ultimate beauty guide!

What you look like on the outside will only get you but so far in life and will only affect others but in so many ways. How you look on the inside can reach others and beyond and can make a more positive affect in this world than you would ever dream about. God wants to use your heart to do amazing things!

The Bible says in 1 Samuel 16:7 for [the LORD sees] not as man sees; for man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.”  We are to worry less about what others think about our outer appearance during our short time on earth and more about how beautifully our hearts reflect God and all that matters for the long-hall - eternal life - Heaven. We are to recognize what struggles we face that are “of the world” and work hard to develop a relationship with God that will transform our hearts and minds to be a better servant until the day we are called Home. In Colossians 3:5, we are told to “Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.” Galations 5:16 reads “I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.”

My encouragement is that we all see ourselves as His precious artwork that He has molded and painted to be something amazingly special, but in order for this, we have to tune into our relationship with Him and allow Him to give our hearts the makeovers they need. God has created us in the likeness of Him and every single one of us has been made to serve a divine purpose during our time on earth. We are to use our bodies, our faces and our features to glorify Him and do His work.

On a side note, ya’ll know “glamming” up will always be fun for me and of course I see nothing wrong with wanting to be your healthiest, feel your healthiest and look your healthiest. If this means exercising a little more than others, eating a little healthier than others or putting a little bit more effort into your appearance than others, I think it’s fine and dandy.  After all, we are enhancing the natural beauty God has given us when we make ourselves to look presentable and feel great, ..right? The problem is when it become a bit of an obsession..

Remember 1 Timothy 4:8 - For bodily exercise profits little: but Godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” I like to interpret this as a statement that reiterates the importance of not getting too wrapped up in the things that are of the world and are temporary and to remember what our ultimate goal should be - living for Jesus and the promise of eternal life. It’s great to stay in shape but staying spiritually in shape is top priority!

When you look in the mirror what do you see? How do you feel? Who are you aiming to impress that day? Think about the type of impression you are trying to make on others. Is it lustful? Is it sinful? Does it cover up too much of your natural beauty? Does it cover up God's beauty?

Ladies and gents, here's a tip when you get ready in the mornings: Talk to Jesus! Reflect on things in life that matter to you and Him. Establish spiritual substance in your heart that will help over rule the temptations and insecurities that stem from worldly desires.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good, and acceptable and the perfect will of God.” ~Romans 12:2

I would encourage you to take a look in the mirror and when you do it, search deep within, don't just look on the surface, look on the inside, deep down inside.

Ladies, remember “Charm is deceitful and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” ~Proverbs 31:30

Also, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight.” ~1 Peter 3:3-4

(He is telling us gals to remember where real beauty is - the heart!)
~
“Many people would be scared if they saw in the mirror not their faces, but their character.” -Unknown

..I truly believe that the definition of great character originates from morals, values and godly expectations that we are taught His Word. I can only pray every day that my inner light will shine through my outer shell and that my character and heart will reflect as much of my Savior as possible. After all, “..our outward man perishes, but our inward is renewed day by day.” - 2 Cor 4:16

I mean, let’s face it, Carrie Underwood is SMOKIN’. But ya know what’s even hotter?... her soul that’s on fire for Jesus! Her passion for walking with Christ and desire to be His light while in the spotlight is what sets her apart and allows her to plant seeds for Christ simply by first being beautiful in Christ.

We can all plant seeds everywhere we go too. I believe the importance in taking our next step into godliness is greater now than it’s ever been. Considering the conflicts and ways of our current world, it is becoming more and more evident we are facing the days in which the Bible predicts could be our last.

With that thought in mind, think of how your heart’s transformation could not only change your future and allow you to live out your divine purpose, but could lead someone else to an eternal future with Christ. Let’s encourage one another in taking those steps into becoming who God is calling us to be and to furthering the Kingdom of Heaven!

"But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people."
2 Timothy 3:1-5

By the way, the word vanity doesn’t just cover “appearance”. It covers excessive pride in talent, possessions and achievements as well. ..Just some food for thought!

I realize this was a lengthy blog, but I am so thankful that you kept reading. I hope these words were a blessing and encouragement to you and that you light up someone else’s life by passing it along.

Today, you’ll hear the song "Different" on Christian radio by Micah Tyler - a beautiful and amazing prayer for transformation! Listen and be moved!

Sneaking & Stalking ...at it's Finest

Just as you sneak up on a wild animal, so Satan sneaks up on you. Just as you stalk until you find the perfect opportunity to strike, so Satan stalks you.

The wiles of the devil are continually upon you. He stalks and studies you so that he knows your every weakness. He pays attention to when you aren't looking (to God) and comes to strike while your head is turned away. He has watched you get to where you are and he knows what will hold you back from moving forward...from continuing to keep your eyes on Christ and press toward a life of fulfillment.

Remember the consequences of your actions. Remember what ethicality and morality bring to the table. Remember how you should treat others. Remember your special light God has given you to shine..

Keep your eyes out for Satan as he comes to kill, steal and destroy it all. He thrives on your guilt and heartache. He loves when you hate other people. He wants you to be lifeless. He wants to rob you of the only true joy you'll ever have. He wants you as far from your Savior as possible. He wants to discourage you from being the person God made you to be. He knows your heart's potential but he wants you useless. He doesn't want you working for good and for God. He wants you on his team, bringing others down with you.

Pay attention to the events in your life, the thoughts in your head, the struggles of temptations. Learn what comes from the enemy and how to stand against him.

Don't be wild game, clueless to your surroundings. Satan is one of the best hunters around. Don't allow yourself to be snuck up on and "gotten". Be prepared with the Sword of the Spirit and to stand firm in the Truth.

Put on the whole armor of God so that when trials come, you can resist the devil, possessing peace and strength in God, when temptation is near, you are knowledgeable of God's Word and geared for obedience, when  life is at a low, your faith is abundant and you hold on to in His promises.

Preparation and knowledge is key. If you fix your eyes on Him, His Word and His promises, Satan will flee. With God as your wingman, you are indestructible. There's nothing like the strength and hope in Jesus and the peace He brings to your heart, mind and soul. There's nothing like watching Satan flee and being able to receive all God has for you.

You keep hunting, but don't be hunted. He wants to sneak up and devour you. The schemes of the devil are constant. Beware. Only in Christ Jesus are you able to face fear, doubt and adversity with soulful preparation. Cling to your Savior. Choose Life over death. For His plans are greater for you than you can imagine.

The Armor of God
Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasionswith all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

It's my prayer that we all can remember what's important in this life, how we can each live with eternal joy and how we can each live out God's purpose for our own individual lives in service to Him and others. Let's not let Satan hold us back!

Have an amazing day!

Love in Christ,
Lindsey Gray

Skin Deep

“For he who sees beauty only skin deep suffers from a blindness that only our Creator can heal.” ~Yours Truly

“He who views beauty on the surface is blind to what is real, true and meaningful.” ~Yours Truly

It’s perfectly fun, fine and dandy to doll yourself up. Who doesn’t want to be presentable to the eyes of the people they pass throughout the day? Some like to doll up more than others, but to each his/her own. All it’s doing is enhancing your attributes so that you glow a little brighter, right?

It’s nice to feel beautiful... but do you ever find yourself just not completely satisfied, even after all your dolling up? Soak in what you are about to read, because it may just change your insecurities into complete confidence, dolled up or not.

~

You know how grown-ups stop and tell parent’s how beautiful their little girl is? Well ever since I can remember (even at the age of 2 or 3), whenever my mother was told this, or even if I was told directly, my mother ALWAYS reminded me where beauty is. Time and time, over and over, while growing up, my mother would say “Where does beauty come from?” And I was to say “the heart”. Today, I am more than thankful to have had this concept instilled in me. I may not have known exactly what it meant when I was little bitty, but I began to know it at a young age and have grown up to never forget it.

"...For the Lord sees not as man sees. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." -1 Samuel 16:7

It’s MORE than easy to get wrapped up in what our “world” perceives as beauty, but it’s so important to not! True, authentic beauty starts in the heart and spreads throughout. What I mean by this is when our Heavenly Father lives in your heart, He fills it with life-touching traits that are to be used to show others His beauty. God is nothing but pure beauty. He is perfect. He is love. Speaking of love, love is probably the most beautiful thing to exist, at least the type of love that God teaches us to have.

“And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.” -1 Corinthians 13:13

See when God is in your heart, he fills your heart with love. He expects you to show and share that love.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. The second is this: Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” -Mark 12: 30-31

What is love?

“Love is patient, live is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always perseveres.” -1 Corinthians 13: 4-7

"Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience." -Collosians 3:12

All these attributes of love describe a truly beautiful person.

Some of the most popular words a person wants to her is “You are just as beautiful inside as you are on the out”. We all know that for someone to see the beauty inside of us is the greatest compliment we could ever receive. It’s such an amazing feeling to be recognized for the person you truly are, not just your outer shell. It’s important though, if you hear these words, to give praise and thanks to the Lord for allowing Him to live in you and shine through you. Self-gratification is a hard thing to bury, but it can be done if your goal in life is to live for Him and not yourself.

"I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." -Galations 2:20

~

So, how can one become truly beautiful and always feel beautiful, you ask? Well, that’s easy. You must invite our one and only Lord and Savior into your heart, if you haven’t already. If you have, you may just need to redirect your focus on Him and ask Him to help you tweak some things on the inside, and help you to start seeing yourself and others through His eyes and not the world's.

Once you decide to transform your heart, a divine makeover will happen that only He, the Master, is capable of. Once He starts to reign over your heart and your life, you will naturally start to possess the characteristics that make you a beautiful person (the ones we talked about earlier). You will then be able to see yourself the way God sees you - as His already perfectly-made creation with an incredible heart that loves Him and loves people.

"I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." -Psalm 139:14

You can be confident in the true beauty you possess. You no longer feel the need to compare yourself to what the “world” sees as compelling or beautiful. You no longer see just your outer layer when you look in the mirror, but you see the inner. You know who you are, you know who God wants you to be, and you are confident in His plans for your life. You know you are fearfully and wonderfully made.

Acknowledging what beauty truly is and letting God turn you into who He wants you to be gives you a risen confidence that no longer allows you to compare yourself in an only skin-deep way.

"Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." -Psalm 34:5

For those of us who have given our whole heart to Jesus, we shall let our confidence exude! Through our smiles, our words, and our actions, real beauty will be seen! Let us walk like Jesus, being confident in who we are, yet humble enough to show His love.

~

On a side note, those who cannot see what is so special inside of you are still blind to the Light, but keep on shining, because they will eventually see, and you may perhaps be the beautiful light that led their hearts in the direction of the path of divine healing and reconstruction.

~

If you have a genuine desire for a spiritual makeover, say a little prayer to our Master Designer and He’ll be happy to start right away :)

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day." -2 Corinthians 4:16

I hope you found this little note encouraging! Have a great day today and even better day tomorrow!

When Oceans Rise

When Oceans Rise...

If you haven’t reached a point or two in life where you have felt the waves crashing and your spirit crushing/drowning, you will one day. Believe me. You may have already experience this type of challenge or you may currently be fighting an ocean that’s wakes just feel too strong to get through. Rest assured, what you have been through, what you are going through, or what you will go through, is only a bridge you had/have to cross to find sunshine after the rain.

You know the saying, “If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it”?  Well, this is almost true. Really and truthfully, God allows you to reach a certain point or experience certain things in life in order not to just bring you through it, but to bring you to an even better place than you can imagine. He gives you this opportunity to cling to Him, re-direct your focus on Him, and allow your heart to learn the lessons of your past and begin to see the beauty of a new future.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall directyour paths.”  ~Proverbs 3:5-6

“And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. “ ~Isaiah 58:11

“But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew [their] strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; [and] they shall walk, and not faint.” ~Isaiah 40:31

Whether it’s a tragedy, a heartbreak, or just plain uncertainty about your position in life, God wants you to rely on Him. He wants to see your faith strengthen and your trust grow, and through these two things, feel the comfort of the Holy Spirit.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” ~Matthew 5:4

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” ~Psalm 147:3

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. …Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” ~Psalm 23:4,6

See, He has to break you, so He can shake you, so He can make you... into what He wants... into a better you.. into a more powerful and beautiful you, so that He can use you and bring joy into your life.

"But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come. ~ John 16:13

It’s natural to cry out WHY? Why did this happen? Why do I have to go through this? Why can’t my life just be a fairy tale? But, as His son or daughter, you must re-direct from "WHY" to "WHAT"... What can I do to learn and grow from this so that my future will be brighter and that I may be more fulfilled?

(The best fulfillment and greatest peace you will ever discover and experience is spiritual fulfillment and peace in that you are a child of God and in His hands at all times.  When you are fulfilled spiritually, you are confident in the person God made you to be and in your desire and effort to live for Him.  When you become a child of God and discover true peace, you have a peace in your heart that comforts you no matter what stage you are in or what you are facing in life. God’s peace gives you rest and assures you of a beautiful after-math plan.)

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD. ~Psalm 27:14

Hillsong United “Oceans” is one of the most powerful, spirit-felt cries to God I’ve ever heard/sung.

The lyrics cry a message to God in that when troubled times are at hand, you can rest in the arms of your Savior, because He is the ultimate Protector and Healer, and only plans for great things. (It’s our job to CHOOSE to look to Him, to rely on Him and have faith in His greater plan).

You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

The last part of the songs cries to the Holy Spirit to lead you to where you have endless trust and to allow yourself to dig deeper in your faith than ever before so that you come out a better and stronger you and closer to God than ever before, able to live for Him in a way you would have never been able to had you not experienced the risen oceans!

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior

So many people struggle with how to go on in times of despair and in times of hurt. I’ve been there, I know. I’ve had my heart torn and ripped to where I did not want to have to face healing. I just wanted everything to completely go away. Through diving into His Word and gaining wisdom through Godly council, I’ve learned that we MUST face our challenges and look our torture dead in the eye without fear. We must call on God to walk us every step of the way out of the valley and lead us to the top of the mountain.

You see, when you are at a lowest point in life, God isn’t waiting at the top of the mountain for you to get to Him by yourself, He is right there with you in your lowest of lows, ready to walk beside you, comfort you, and shine His guiding light to lead you to a better place.

So just remember, when oceans rise, let your soul rest in His embrace.  God is not the creator of fear, pain and darkness, but of love, comfort and light. Let Him hold you, let Him guide you.

Remember that this is all part of the journey. He is the potter and we are the clay. We all have to go through molding and shaping. As much as it may sting, it's only temporary. Enjoy the journey and be thankful for God’s craftsmanship and who He is turning you into, because it’s all for His glory and it’s all absolutely beautiful! Your testimony of faith will make a difference in not only your own life but it will be used to bless others as well.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” ~ Proverbs 3:5-6

For the LORD God is a sun and a shield; the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly. O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee” ~Psalm 84:11-12

Happy February 2016!
I hope you found blessing through this reading.

Love to all!

One-Shot Deal

One-Shot

Definition:
Achieved with a single attempt or action; done, produced, or occurring only once."a one-shot deal"

Our mighty Creator is so powerful and so perfect, it only took Him ONE SINGLE SHOT to make YOU. Because He is that awesome and makes no mistakes, YOU are a “one-shot deal”.  There is only one of you in this world. This was done unmistakably and for an amazing purpose, as God has a reason and a purpose for all His creations.

“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well." -Psalm 139:14

Sometimes you may catch yourself wondering and trying to figure out what your purpose is or why you are even here on this earth? Difficult circumstances can easily drive you to questioning yourself and your place in this world. Some of you may actually be in a comfortable position, but still have that unsatisfying feeling that maybe you should try to be someone different or achieve something different.

On a personal note, tons of people look at me and question my position today. Heck, I even sometimes wonder myself what I am doing. As a young female with plenty of God-given abilities and talents, I too wonder if working in the family firearm business is really where I am suppose to be.  I know, I know, I’m unique, right? Thankfully, I do realize that I am unique and I realize God has His purpose. When comments are made by others and self-questioning starts in my head, I simply answer - “God has me exactly where He wants me right now." :)

To all you readers, I’m here to tell you to rest assured that if you are attempting to follow in His light and let Him be your life “overseer”, you are right where He wants you and He is currently, or will soon be, using you for a divine purpose. Divine purposes give you spiritual fulfillment and spiritual fulfillment always answers your questions of "why?" or "what?" Why am I here? What is my purpose?

God placed you here on this earth and gave you special talents and gifts that can be used for the good of people and purpose of shining His light. Never underestimate the position God has allowed you to be in. Plus, He opens new doors and takes you into a deeper spiritual journey as you continue to trust in Him and His purpose for you.

“I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my spokesman to the world.” -Jeremiah 1:5

God knew you before you were born. He knew all the wonderful and special parts about you. He knew that if you believed in Him and accepted Jesus into your heart, all the special parts He gave you would enable you to shine bright for Him.

Once you choose to let Him live in your heart, you are called to shine His Light in some form or fashion... to be a spokesman for Him - to not be afraid or ashamed of the gospel. You are called to stand out in a positive way and not fall into the ways of the world. If you simply stand out by being a faithful follower of Christ, you are serving your duty.

Whether you chose Jesus earlier or later in life, He is now a part of YOU and Him being a part of you, separates you from being just like the average Jo Blow. You are a more special you than ever before.

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." -Romans 12:2
~
Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching’”-Romans 12:6-7

No matter what profession or job you may have, God can use you for His glory. Whether you are a missionary, preacher, teacher, salesman, doctor, financial advisor, entertainer, soldier, law-enforcement officer, cook, stay-at-home mom, etc., you have been given the the special talents you possess and the unique personality and heart you have by God, and He expects you to use them to help reach others and shine His light.

If you question your talents and traits you are blessed with, please take a moment and think about all the times you made someone smile or gave just out of the goodness of your heart. There are so many things someone can do or say that simply reflects His love. Big or small, it all counts and it’s the job you have been given by the Master.

Never underestimate your purpose. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t hurt to aim for a bigger and better one! There is absolutely nothing wrong with having a greater desire, but be sure it’s for God’s glory and not your own. God rewards those who’s hearts are sincere. You never know where He may lead you!

Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”-Proverbs 16:3

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” -Ephesians 2:10

“You are diminished if you hide yourself under a bushel, keeping your skills, talents, insights, joy, and pain hidden away from others. God wants you to share yourself. He created you with a uniqueness that enriches the world when you give yourself to the community around you.” -Uknown

Remember, you are a one-shot deal - don’t diminish yourself!

Aside of the positions you are currently in and the roles you play, and if you take anything from this, please remember that you are absolutely made beautifully. No matter your race, no matter your sex, you have been given a special personality, special character traits and special interests that all make you YOU. Always remember to be proud of who you are, because you were fearfully and wonderfully made by an almighty God who loves each and every one of His unique children equally.

God wants you to be who He made you to be. Don’t settle for who others want you to be or expect you to be. Don’t settle for what satisfies the world, settle for what satisfies God. Don’t let the world’s intention for you override God’s original intention for you.

Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? And not one of them will fall to the ground apart from your Father. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” -Matthew 10:29-31

Another reminder: It’s a slap in God’s face to insult or make fun of His creations. Never insult yourself and never insult someone different than you. Instead, be thankful for your qualities and abilities and appreciate those of others. Leave any judging behind, as that is the Lord’s job.

Important side note: When I say be “you”, I mean be the God-fearing, Christ-following “you” with no shame in your Christian game or in the positive qualities God has blessed you with. Unfortunately, we as humans are born into a sinful nature, so to actually be ourselves is technically not what we should be. Be aware that the ungodly will encourage others to “be themselves” and not care what others think, but it’s important for you to understand the difference between and know if the “you” you are being is the sinful “you” or the God-fearing “you”.  I just wanted to make sure this was clear before I leave you with this final following verse. :)

To this end we always pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling and may fulfill every resolve for good and every work of faith by His power, so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” -2 Thessalonians 1:11-12

Kill. Steal. Destroy.

KILL. STILL. DESTROY.

Do you ever feel like life is just bringing you down? The smallest things happen that just ruin your whole attitude and outlook on everything? These feelings my friend, come from a fellow with the name of Satan, better knows as “the devil” - God’s biggest enemy - OUR biggest enemy. He comes to KILL, STEAL, and DESTROY. Whether it’s a small thing in life, or big thing, Satan is always watching and ready to take advantage of any and all situations, especially unfortunate situations, so that he can bring us down and as far away from God as possible.

Whether our struggle is physical, mental, or spiritual, Satan is ready to take us down and bring us to our lowest. He knows where we are the weakest and he knows the easiest areas to get to us. He watches everything happen in our lives, waiting for the right opportunities. Whether it’s a relationship, financial struggle, health issue, etc., Satan throws thoughts in our heads in order to attack our emotions to make us struggle more than what we have to.

Have you ever been told you were exaggerating about something? Well, Satan causes you to exaggerate your problems. You’re problem may be huge or even life threatening, or it may me something small but that affects you greatly. I’m here to tell you NOTHING is too big for God. Satan only wants us to exaggerate our problems, which can cause us to dwell on them. This can easily suck the life and joy we have in Jesus out of us! He uses these tactics to distract you from the fact that God is mighty and in control, and is the only one who can bring joy when and where it is hard to find.

Satan comes to STEAL your joy, KILL your spirit, and DESTROY your hope, trust and faith in the one true God.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” -John 10:10

Many times, it is evident when you find yourself feeling brought down that it could be Satan just trying to make you see things in a negative way or trying to kill your positive spirit. These times, my friends, are the times you must verbally, out loud, tell Satan to back off and that God is fighting this battle for you and you have NOTHING to worry about.

Have you watched the movie War Room yet? If not, you are missing out on an AMAZING spiritual, life lesson. A mother/wife yells out to Satan something along the lines of “Get out of my house!” “You are no longer welcome!” “This is God’s territory now!” After that specific demand took place, boy did God work miracles in that home! You MUST resist the devil and turn to God if you want your joy back! He WILL flea when you use the power of the Holy Spirit in your heart to fight him off. God is the ultimate ruler and He always conquers.

Aside of the times when you know that it’s the enemy trying to attack you, there are other times he can be more sneaky. Ever heard of the phrase “a wolf in sheep’s clothing”? This is EXACTLY how Satan tries to sneak around and deceive you. He makes people/things/situations appear to be something they are not.

“No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” -2 Corinthinans 11:14

“But I am afraid that, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, your minds will be led astray from the simplicity and purity of devotion to Christ.” -2 Corinthians 11:3

More times than not, Satan comes dressed as what you would think to be good, God or a “God sign”. This can be the most confusing and frustrating thing you face when making decisions in life. You may think it’s God giving you His sign to do something or the Holy Spirit giving you comfort in a decision you’ve made or are about to make, when unfortunately, it could merely be Satan trying to steer you in the wrong and opposite direction God wants you to go. This happens a lot when you are being tempted to sin as well. The sin will sound justifiable while Satan is putting it into your head, but really, it’s not. No sin is justifiable. A sin is a sin and a sin is wrong. Period. (As a Christian, we know we are humans and will always have a sinful nature, however; it’s our job to do our best at recognizing a sin and controlling ourselves before we fall under it’s temptation.)

ANYWAY, the big question is, how do you know if it’s God or if it’s the enemy? The best answer I can provide is a fairly simple answer. It’s the only answer I have been given. Look at every single aspect of the situation/person/thing you are contemplating or considering and ask yourself if they line up with the Word of God and His teachings? Is it something God would be proud of and would it bring earthly blessings and Heavenly rewards to your table? If it is still unclear and to the point where the wolf could be disguised too well, take a deep look inside your heart and ask the Holy Spirit to give you a specific gut feeling of what’s right and what’s wrong. (If you spend time letting your lips and heart be silent, and simply allow God to speak to you, you will learn how to easily hear the Spirit whispering the right thing into your heart.) At the same time, during a time like this, answers may not come quickly and decisions may be postponed, but that’s why it is SO important for us to trust in the Lord and be PATIENT for His timing and His perfect plan.

See, Satan is the opposite of God. God only brings goodness, comfort, and joy to our lives. Satan’s goal is to steal from you the joy and comfort that God provides and deceive you into following him instead. Unfortunately, allowing Satan to rule your life can only lead to negativity. He can completely destroy your life if you allow him.

Below are of few verses from God’s Word that reflect and reiterate that our Heavenly Father is loving and on your side, wants you to depend on Him, and is always there to fight for you when the enemy attempts to attack.

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.” - 2 Thessalonians 3:3

God is Good
"Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He instructs sinners in the way." -Psalm 25:8

"For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, and abundant in lovingkindness to all who call upon You." -Psalm 86:5

In order to allow God to fight your battles, you must learn the differences between God's ways and Satan’s ways and you must discover the tactics given through His Word to help you withstand the tempting and trying times.

“Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.” -Ephesians 6:11

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God,so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powersof this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Thanks so much for taking time to read this lengthy note. I hope and pray it’s a message to you from God. Without a doubt, if you allow one spiritual seed to be planted in your life, God will give it the rain and sunshine you need in order to grow in your walk with Him.
